How to look natural while reading a script
Seven habits of camera-confident creators.
1. Place the script near your camera
The closer the script is to the camera lens, the less obvious eye movement becomes. Drag the prompter window directly under your webcam.
2. Use larger text
Larger text reduces eye scanning and helps keep your delivery present. Aim for text large enough to read without leaning in.
3. Break scripts into shorter paragraphs
Short paragraphs are easier to read naturally. Aim for 1–2 sentence chunks separated by line breaks.
4. Add pause cues
[PAUSE] and [BREATHE] cues stop your delivery from sounding robotic. Punctuate your strongest points.
5. Slow the scroll speed
The teleprompter should move slightly slower than your fastest speaking pace. Catch up to the script — don't chase it.
6. Practice before recording
One practice round can save multiple bad takes. Use Practice Mode to time yourself before hitting record.
7. Use a real teleprompter when needed
For perfect eye-line with a camera lens, you may eventually want a physical teleprompter setup. This app is a great starting point for desktop and webcam recording.
